<br />
This summer we went on our honeymoon, it was fab, and like any holiday it was a good chance to catch up on some reading! (I finally tackled the Hunger Games trilogy, I loved them!) However I did decide to treat myself after finding some vouchers to a Kindle to save some packing space. (This I also love).<br />
<br />
I was having a whine on twitter about getting a nice case from Paperchase to keep it safe, where I was abruptly told to make one. Doh! So I did, using some cute leftover fabric, some nice soft felt and a huge yellow button, this is what I came up with...<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfkDAMjrnmWz8Bl1Gnulbfo_oCyNJxPwiZOkvuz9zOHd1yEwWkZmKd5394S2R2VwEvlaVkPMRhAD-sdCY6QYY-f-dXX-bGySPrwccxXfwRrQtofxq15jJFlacEfPAqXKAFdR5UfG4sl2Q/s1600/217911_10151082399624407_1574535759_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfkDAMjrnmWz8Bl1Gnulbfo_oCyNJxPwiZOkvuz9zOHd1yEwWkZmKd5394S2R2VwEvlaVkPMRhAD-sdCY6QYY-f-dXX-bGySPrwccxXfwRrQtofxq15jJFlacEfPAqXKAFdR5UfG4sl2Q/s320/217911_10151082399624407_1574535759_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And I must say, it works pretty well! So it wasn't long until I was asked to make another for a friend. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Cue more cute fabric...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I hope she likes it! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Until next time...</div>

<br />
However, I recently spotted this finger knitting kit by 'pinkyknits' in my local Hobbycraft and can never resist a bargain!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfzP-n7k8xUEreCpN0KAzajmWC4Kfz4kSOYGijpiPNZn5u1JyEUKIZXkRaUtatVMtPIMR1jaKPzJ2DcTLO7CTIBH7aW4odNCl8Ekr1fkVSQSBrT1oJJMb_Mg9zEAf0vA5bSg-orA8wNHk/s1600/2d05aa08c9e111e19c6622000a1e89ba_7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfzP-n7k8xUEreCpN0KAzajmWC4Kfz4kSOYGijpiPNZn5u1JyEUKIZXkRaUtatVMtPIMR1jaKPzJ2DcTLO7CTIBH7aW4odNCl8Ekr1fkVSQSBrT1oJJMb_Mg9zEAf0vA5bSg-orA8wNHk/s320/2d05aa08c9e111e19c6622000a1e89ba_7.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
So the second I got home I was off... The tagline said "minutes", that would never be the case with me, more like days I thought!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPSnm4SYxSW1gd4oson-vP2FMihjXkl7gWgCb68hxTsvtuSSQ7_oTaCe8TcX1iMOCPDWTLg7prKz-xrzme8PVyijEPp3P4WhXLB6GtP7Cc9dOQTzn3C3CvpcY6kXlk0qht-HtIgWkyCAI/s1600/8cbbe876c9e211e1b10e123138105d6b_7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPSnm4SYxSW1gd4oson-vP2FMihjXkl7gWgCb68hxTsvtuSSQ7_oTaCe8TcX1iMOCPDWTLg7prKz-xrzme8PVyijEPp3P4WhXLB6GtP7Cc9dOQTzn3C3CvpcY6kXlk0qht-HtIgWkyCAI/s320/8cbbe876c9e211e1b10e123138105d6b_7.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbvYbkrrzcI8Ti7VXb2a4Hwr55HieeL09WbCG9QzJwz_sgZeQU-IcTwssIVbvmjgXCKgUURuc4Dsq9_XWGdxYWj6oz7FTBDcHFRJ-pUtYBdLyVeCCuEIbOMUDN-1w437FCWdgRC1kQfG4/s1600/68ac0246c9f511e181bd12313817987b_7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbvYbkrrzcI8Ti7VXb2a4Hwr55HieeL09WbCG9QzJwz_sgZeQU-IcTwssIVbvmjgXCKgUURuc4Dsq9_XWGdxYWj6oz7FTBDcHFRJ-pUtYBdLyVeCCuEIbOMUDN-1w437FCWdgRC1kQfG4/s320/68ac0246c9f511e181bd12313817987b_7.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
But once I'd figured out how to cast on (the doodled instructions on the side were pretty easy to follow), I soon realised I wouldn't be able to stop so worked quickly, maybe 2 hours later, I was ready to cast off...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpk_-3kgIJ7H6kpw6OYk_Rqp05adiqrQUsuYv6fZ1OWvQpxpFv2dA8Mjjb0HTX3r-NHAEU9YiMF0zt8_ELVAxbPYRLR0IkGPSa1haePdeNDbCsZvHE1hR4w_t482e_QnSZHedj4M965nU/s1600/0298c098c9fa11e1bf341231380f8a12_7-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpk_-3kgIJ7H6kpw6OYk_Rqp05adiqrQUsuYv6fZ1OWvQpxpFv2dA8Mjjb0HTX3r-NHAEU9YiMF0zt8_ELVAxbPYRLR0IkGPSa1haePdeNDbCsZvHE1hR4w_t482e_QnSZHedj4M965nU/s320/0298c098c9fa11e1bf341231380f8a12_7-1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
...I have big knuckles and funny shaped fingers, so the tensions a lot uneven, but it won't take anything away from my joy at managing to knit something!! Even if it's something a 5 year old can do!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But then it was time to get back into my comfort zone, sewing the 'noodles' together, first along the length and then the end...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And TA-DAH! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A coil twist scarf!! (Apparently) </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj20FwY8tExypUvDRtzzdn4en53r69hq4zu4BcN7Z32B7QGsI5mhffAPxLvoSZqt25TdEl75objUgIaCwLslgdpBJQ0zN4ZeQOrtaBf1fYanhD0qLbw6ghyZ744MfCwCvbx9I2PxZ5iDZY/s1600/ab80775ed43711e1acff22000a1e8b23_7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj20FwY8tExypUvDRtzzdn4en53r69hq4zu4BcN7Z32B7QGsI5mhffAPxLvoSZqt25TdEl75objUgIaCwLslgdpBJQ0zN4ZeQOrtaBf1fYanhD0qLbw6ghyZ744MfCwCvbx9I2PxZ5iDZY/s320/ab80775ed43711e1acff22000a1e8b23_7.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I know my scarf won't win any beauty awards! I'm aware of how crude the knitting and joining is, and I know there are many flaws with the tension, I blame most of this on the fact that I made it up as I wen't along, but that's how I learn best, so heres hoping next time I try something like this it will look a lot neater... </div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
But for now, I'm pretty pleased, after all I've always said I cant knit! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I would love any tips though on how I can make it a little prettier!</div>
<br />charliesewsstuffhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01012314584211082142noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2421269204772250108.post-11425150510602193062012-07-21T11:17:00.000+01:002012-07-21T11:17:05.988+01:00My DIY Wedding Stationary, Invites, Save the Dates and Thank You Cards...Hey folks!<br />
<br />
AS you know, I've just been very busy with our Wedding earlier this year! I told you when it was over I would share some of my crafts with you all so.... here goes!<br />
<br />
<i>(Ok so there weren't that many crafts, but this is a sewing blog so I don't want to be littering it with my wedding anyway... (lies.))</i><br />
<i><br /></i><br />
We started our invites as most couples do by sending out our save the dates, inspired by Bob Dylan's Subterranean Homesick Blues video, black and white card pictures, unfortunately for us we didn't have a sexy US street background to shoot our video on, what with living in old Blighty so we made do with Mother in Laws wall...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhE72CpgQwc0y4k6sL_QC5KUzfDE4caSsuk-NILJeCIIyjP_6T1BN3P6728J2uqtNnBkJMzzJnvDpEa03WLAyeFfaRXvAkagKxzREkP92lkh2cw7lfpcDZoX878_KvQNh-bKVs-LbEi1o/s1600/7502999_720.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="242" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhE72CpgQwc0y4k6sL_QC5KUzfDE4caSsuk-NILJeCIIyjP_6T1BN3P6728J2uqtNnBkJMzzJnvDpEa03WLAyeFfaRXvAkagKxzREkP92lkh2cw7lfpcDZoX878_KvQNh-bKVs-LbEi1o/s320/7502999_720.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We loved the overall final effect, simple and so easy. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Step 1. Buy card and paint</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Step 2. Paint said cards</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Step 3. Make self look nice and get someone to take photos of you. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Step 4. Edit them all into a picture and send said picture off to someone to print onto a postcard. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Step 5. Write them and send them all out in the post! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
See easy! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If only I could say the same for the invites, which, I have to be honest are my favourite invites ever!! <i>(no bias there at all obviously!) </i>I can't take all the credit though, most of it should really go to Lynsey, who features a lot on my blog and will continue to as she's so damn talented, but she blogs too... <a href="http://www.knotsewinteresting.com/">knotsewinteresting</a> it's really very good! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Anyhow I digress... </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The invites were a real labour of love both for me and Lynsey, we started brainstorming ideas a long time ago and struggled to narrow the ideas down, we had tea towels, balloons, cards that tied into a knot when you opened them and lots of other fully awesome ideas, but then practicality got the better of us.... </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So we came up with a colour scheme (wedding was fairly neutral up until then)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I knew I loved the idea of vellum stitched onto card with an image on the card and the details on the vellum <i>(I had to get sewing in there somewhere!)</i> and RSVP stickers, lots of fun for the guests I thought! I also really wanted string tied envelopes, which apparently you can't buy anywhere!!!! So I made them... </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Using a template and instructions from <a href="http://www.minieco.co.uk/diy-string-tie-envelopes/">www.minieco.co.uk</a>, I ordered some pink card and yellow A3 paper, I then photocopied the template from the site onto the paper getting it as big as I could 74% increase was the max I could fit onto each A3 sheet, then I cut, folded, glued, and split pinned it into place... Worth every hour spent on it!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Lynsey then worked her magic to create the imagery, the instructions and the stickers, all the digital stuff that she does so well, and she even scaled it to fit my now rather random sized envelopes as well as the template sizes for moo.com where the stickers and postcards came from... </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

I had these professionally printed onto card so they were of good quality, she then typed all the details of the day up so that they were ready to be printed onto vellum. </div>

<br />
I thought I'd do a little blog post today about my two favourite crafty magazines inspired by conversations with a few friends. Recently I just can't seem to decide which one I prefer, and most importantly which one to get myself a subscription too!<br />
<br />
I can't sustain this whole 2 magazines a month trend I'm currently indulging...<br />
<br />
So, contender number one...<br />
<br />
Making.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoSGwlrGl_osavC9dCgzYPC8WE0S68yppTUDJv5bm4FKCQQvq25mBHDY37GfK3u5ZArJuo12QZudWWP4FtvSwfoiAVrZKzwNxiAwnLc394BPUBMSdXRLH6HgN8B5D3qIfbydW0-eLVlPU/s1600/56df8cc2c60811e18cf91231380fd29b_6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoSGwlrGl_osavC9dCgzYPC8WE0S68yppTUDJv5bm4FKCQQvq25mBHDY37GfK3u5ZArJuo12QZudWWP4FtvSwfoiAVrZKzwNxiAwnLc394BPUBMSdXRLH6HgN8B5D3qIfbydW0-eLVlPU/s1600/56df8cc2c60811e18cf91231380fd29b_6.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
With do-able projects which encompass a wide range of skills and a host of issues which have included, 'Retro', 'Scandi' and 'Festival' (my 3 favourite words when considering design), whats not to love? Lots of fun sewing patterns each time and a whole host of recommended suppliers who've served me well... </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>I found another fab blog to explore, I hope she doesn't mind!! </i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>Thanks again Making! (Albeit indirectly)</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
That was until this newcomer snuck into my life at the Clothes Show Live back in December, contender number 2...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Mollie Makes.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Oh my, Mollie Makes, with your vintage styling, heavy weight paper, and beautiful monthly free gifts... well I have to admit, it's tempting... I'm not always won over by their projects, but when I am, they really are amazing... Also, I got me a free Belle and Boo needle case with the above issue, now that IS a surefire way to my heart!! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As for my subscription... Well, the jury's still out... </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'd love to hear your thoughts?</div>

Not because they're hard to buy for, but because they always give lovely handmade gifts, to which I cannot possibly respond with something from a store; no matter how well intentioned.<br />
<br />
For this reason I store every idea for when it is most needed. So when I received this free chart from 'Cross Stitcher' magazine at the clothes show <i>(incidentally the same moment I rediscovered the craft with my <a href="http://charliesewsstuff.blogspot.co.uk/2011/12/cross-stitching-for-first-time-in-years.html">little cross stitch guard</a>) </i>I knew I was saving it for a gift, and I knew who for...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWOIr1hSJXltuZS-wC9ojgf1J4i9i12OKtE7PFuJHagWOKcW94ljm1DRcEALWpnrrVbsi3H0RGymuoCo3_PbEckMdTzPE7nIwPKNsWHjFpeDm2_sVK71pcpDPiOhMGCC9j_nrVZI-1qUk/s1600/f2491a96c15f11e1989612313815112c_6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWOIr1hSJXltuZS-wC9ojgf1J4i9i12OKtE7PFuJHagWOKcW94ljm1DRcEALWpnrrVbsi3H0RGymuoCo3_PbEckMdTzPE7nIwPKNsWHjFpeDm2_sVK71pcpDPiOhMGCC9j_nrVZI-1qUk/s1600/f2491a96c15f11e1989612313815112c_6.jpg" /></a></div>

<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So I used the pattern for the crown, although I needed to make mine smaller so edited it a little. I also missed out the backstitch.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I then, in my mission to shrink it down, made the words up as I went along, shrinking each letter...</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Whilst I recorded the process on instagram, I was mildly tempted to take one followers advice to </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
"Leave it. The suspense will infuriate OCDists"</div>

<br />
A lot.<br />
<br />
And I LOVE felt. It's just so easy to work with and also comes in such a great range of colours!! So off I toddled off to London on a rare sunny morning to go to a monster making workshop at Foyles...<br />
<br />
We were given all the tools to make a monster like this...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnecZTBc8LIaYPv-MQkPKMiK1IEpty6w4r1ahcOebtU-QdB1HE5h-uf3Pqqu-L8jldS8TKAfeAw-zVFKxyKh5CTOZjGGf5kEkwI-eKDvmNIsRL1iIKZycWHmpkwAIiHmj1e5V8rBIDfoM/s1600/2012-06-30+17.06.23.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnecZTBc8LIaYPv-MQkPKMiK1IEpty6w4r1ahcOebtU-QdB1HE5h-uf3Pqqu-L8jldS8TKAfeAw-zVFKxyKh5CTOZjGGf5kEkwI-eKDvmNIsRL1iIKZycWHmpkwAIiHmj1e5V8rBIDfoM/s320/2012-06-30+17.06.23.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
When we arrived there were bags with different colourways to choose from, typically me, I could not decide, I think I picked up every colour before deciding on the pinkest one of the lot. Again typically me. I'm still not sure I even like pink, but well I must do... I mean look at the blog... Anyway I digress...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjReixtzmFqRUc5BbebOVKyQ2cR67oHBS1ERzummE2YXbMHA-bOO6TLPGgj1jbS55IOpD3K0uw2keF70hWSNlZoSaPOsbSis0TRRZoYo-BkhHV9HiPSBBgI-fCROYrDEIKBuCxuLjtEVQk/s1600/2012-06-30+13.04.20.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjReixtzmFqRUc5BbebOVKyQ2cR67oHBS1ERzummE2YXbMHA-bOO6TLPGgj1jbS55IOpD3K0uw2keF70hWSNlZoSaPOsbSis0TRRZoYo-BkhHV9HiPSBBgI-fCROYrDEIKBuCxuLjtEVQk/s320/2012-06-30+13.04.20.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Then we were given sheets to come up with our own designs, I doodled cut out and moved things around, I then rummaged into a box of extra felt, at one point I had bright pink lips and 3 eyes, but then I stumbled upon some lovely blue felt and I decided it had to happen... After mumbling to myself for about 20 minutes and banging my head against the desk, I had a plan... <i>(Serious creative block!) </i><br />
<i><br /></i><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
The only thing I was sure of was that she had to have eyelashes...</div>
<i><br /></i><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCkNkeOLFwgd9lmV3BAtVFUf3tm4HMf8yMv3vHkr56E1nBWSD-WT6BpWt75v0kQ2jq0LKeVfp_puw1bLXUgUPcMJllLhDJ1hAxLedETBnJxdgDgoiAtnXrSds7VwjunvynduAn1zkO1S8/s1600/1909f994c46611e19e4a12313813ffc0_6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCkNkeOLFwgd9lmV3BAtVFUf3tm4HMf8yMv3vHkr56E1nBWSD-WT6BpWt75v0kQ2jq0LKeVfp_puw1bLXUgUPcMJllLhDJ1hAxLedETBnJxdgDgoiAtnXrSds7VwjunvynduAn1zkO1S8/s1600/1909f994c46611e19e4a12313813ffc0_6.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And 'Lola' was born! </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKSFWEd9XfEjLqwAehfNBal5HVo0gQIhG4_SLGSwPbIPwodMQwMqDpf2sm7q3k6Sef-3GOSYhgS6u0n9BP9c440VbJohK6b_GtbZrvtwQ8-pao5abd_D5anunK1CPwILJqhQMa3hl1X-Q/s1600/2012-06-30+16.43.03.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKSFWEd9XfEjLqwAehfNBal5HVo0gQIhG4_SLGSwPbIPwodMQwMqDpf2sm7q3k6Sef-3GOSYhgS6u0n9BP9c440VbJohK6b_GtbZrvtwQ8-pao5abd_D5anunK1CPwILJqhQMa3hl1X-Q/s320/2012-06-30+16.43.03.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I didn't want to call her Lola at first, <i>(I love the name so much it was in my bank for future kids)</i> but she went from being a girl to a boy to a girl to a boy so many times that it seemed highly appropriate and <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVXmMMSo47s">"Lola"</a> by the Kinks became her theme tune. </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
She also met a boy... he's called <a href="http://www.knotsewinteresting.com/lance-loves-lola/">Lance</a>, it must be love, he even got a tattoo...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGJdQYZBw4CYniqBIz7jZzQsz_uWn3D9GYJ7dSxbGyPCg6H0qrMvoYNHADUXfYV3IW0y9BjQMvcsnFt6SiXCU5nE5zRG_aFaGdtqaEr3OFIm9KTO5L4WXCIirPCD9xsaYjsqQK3HniUhw/s1600/2012-06-30+23.45.57.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGJdQYZBw4CYniqBIz7jZzQsz_uWn3D9GYJ7dSxbGyPCg6H0qrMvoYNHADUXfYV3IW0y9BjQMvcsnFt6SiXCU5nE5zRG_aFaGdtqaEr3OFIm9KTO5L4WXCIirPCD9xsaYjsqQK3HniUhw/s320/2012-06-30+23.45.57.jpg" width="240" /></a><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I think it must have been her beautiful lashes that won him over... Made the same way I did the whiskers on my <a href="http://charliesewsstuff.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/bunny-birthday-card.html">Bunny birthday card</a>...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Lola is also a famous showgirl as I'm sure we're all aware... So I used some of my leftover felt to give her a showgirl style skirt, before embroidering her name on her back... No going back now!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Once I'd finished the decoration, I decided to cut off her ears and give her a more rounded shape, yes, she has a bit of a hunched back!! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The session was such a great day, and it was lovely to see kids getting stuck in on the table next to us! We met some lovely folk, 2 of whom were so lovely they bought us Hummingbird Bakery Cupcakes, I tried my very first Red Velvet Cupcake... It was lush, thanks!<br />

<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
I've been getting a little obsessive with instagram of late, can you tell? I don't have a good camera so it hides the shame of poor quality photos well!</div>

I thought I'd share this cute little card I hand sewed and embroidered for my friends 30th, she loves bunnies too so i thought I'd get that into her card...</div>

I love the little whiskers and it was pretty easy to do! I just used stranded embroidery floss, tied a knot in one end, pulled it through, trimmed it and split the floss down again into individual strands, finished off with a little pink french knot nose!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I started by sewing some lace onto a strip of elastic just the right size for my thigh... </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgC_i4y3rufP_9ZlwWJbY8nTBxgrjH71pIWErbY1WSw3Nyy8rnUhGuO52rArPuQ6EZzDJCEN7HkNrcu-GwKRY7odwSw9gqF7JCv4gZXB75HOfLH12bZAhl6E5vzrc9ATDWd3fej8v4Gbk/s1600/0d49070a9f3e11e1b9f1123138140926_6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgC_i4y3rufP_9ZlwWJbY8nTBxgrjH71pIWErbY1WSw3Nyy8rnUhGuO52rArPuQ6EZzDJCEN7HkNrcu-GwKRY7odwSw9gqF7JCv4gZXB75HOfLH12bZAhl6E5vzrc9ATDWd3fej8v4Gbk/s1600/0d49070a9f3e11e1b9f1123138140926_6.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I wanted this to be my something blue, so added a ribbon rose, made my simply gathering up a simple running stitch along one edge of the ribbon...</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjw71ctpIbPLm1Cj-8Rc_sx1fyzHH2upXf9QXIPWxoomGfhRN08RnZEEWydNEy8BiaqIITchKY_GdxX174zKKjwCzQYP_L5U7jQzkAhyphenhyphen6sVQc2Jk6IlbEh6Qqwp1p2NTR0rzbdTI0TtjCg/s1600/20c98b7e9f3e11e1a9f71231382044a1_6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjw71ctpIbPLm1Cj-8Rc_sx1fyzHH2upXf9QXIPWxoomGfhRN08RnZEEWydNEy8BiaqIITchKY_GdxX174zKKjwCzQYP_L5U7jQzkAhyphenhyphen6sVQc2Jk6IlbEh6Qqwp1p2NTR0rzbdTI0TtjCg/s1600/20c98b7e9f3e11e1a9f71231382044a1_6.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I finished off the centre of the rose with some small pearlescent beads, but it looked a little lost...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrl2GP5gUO7U6a5amVyoyNUyFMLPO4XHpa1l7NAQDcZ8RZ0Ih-c6Lq05kW2kP7Uo4XK4frEUk38AURGkSXnnVxSq4B1brytosNokTT-_T4xPrGG3vXB4na3UGggYuKEk1XWwTDqyp2Zok/s1600/36e845749f4f11e1b10e123138105d6b_6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrl2GP5gUO7U6a5amVyoyNUyFMLPO4XHpa1l7NAQDcZ8RZ0Ih-c6Lq05kW2kP7Uo4XK4frEUk38AURGkSXnnVxSq4B1brytosNokTT-_T4xPrGG3vXB4na3UGggYuKEk1XWwTDqyp2Zok/s1600/36e845749f4f11e1b10e123138105d6b_6.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So I made another ribbon rose by folding each strip of ribbon over and stitching it into place, this is the first time I've ever done this and I kinda made it up as I went along, not too bad though...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGpSX5FodXSh45aG97i4WlC4YPR53MMVpeDaq9kO935gtrw7WwfFqjXjxsZpEaxxhG0Eo6jydbdzqVV_9Ni5KW7SD_rbEFeAh6eM6PrSK1R0g69YhXy2Od845__Q528l4dJtJLtf8xEg4/s1600/e91b42d29f4f11e1a9f71231382044a1_6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGpSX5FodXSh45aG97i4WlC4YPR53MMVpeDaq9kO935gtrw7WwfFqjXjxsZpEaxxhG0Eo6jydbdzqVV_9Ni5KW7SD_rbEFeAh6eM6PrSK1R0g69YhXy2Od845__Q528l4dJtJLtf8xEg4/s1600/e91b42d29f4f11e1a9f71231382044a1_6.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Again I finished this with a few pearlescent beads, randomly distributed this time though, and I finished it off with a little lace bow, I did love the final result...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

Our wedding in a nutshell...I'm going to leave it to Amy to blog our wedding, but here are a couple of pictures that pretty much sum up what was an amazing day...<br />

However I do love my boyfriend, (I know, I know it's a sewing blog.... But I am getting to the point. Promise!) I love him so much I foolishly agreed to marry him, so that would explain my absence! Weddings are far too time consuming, and unfortunately for crafty folk like me, I have just too many ideas and not enough time, I am also especially crippled by my need for perfection, meaning everything takes 10 times longer than it ought to!<br />
<br />
This won't be the end of my wedding blogs as I have a few things I'd like to share, and no, they don't all involve sewing, like this one, but it sure is pretty....<br />
<br />
I was lucky enough... and I genuinely mean lucky, I am still amazed I managed to stumble across our Wedding Photographer Amy, who is bizarrely enough also a Textiles teacher like myself, but she was available to shoot our wedding and she has a style of photography which I love!<br />
<br />
I thought I'd share a few of these photos with you...<br />
<br />

Come to think of it, we might have made them as Easter Bonnets... either way, perfect for this time of year, why not have a go during the school holidays!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmdpBpWK-ZfELI_JRS9UDWaeeW3X-2oWJ3k9vXZpj72perZH58CBnGRUov1WI1lZoFE5PTOoh0rohUt9kEczuQaFBpaHD5bvOh_lvQ2dfiCFozVhQHu440jU0riolujdkW7xnAny2z8-k/s1600/P1010089.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmdpBpWK-ZfELI_JRS9UDWaeeW3X-2oWJ3k9vXZpj72perZH58CBnGRUov1WI1lZoFE5PTOoh0rohUt9kEczuQaFBpaHD5bvOh_lvQ2dfiCFozVhQHu440jU0riolujdkW7xnAny2z8-k/s320/P1010089.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
I loved making them and thought it would be a great little project for little folk, I have none of my own, so clearly I am just a big kid, but Dad's take note! (I'm hoping that my Mum and Grandma will appreciate the nostalgia trip as much I as I have!)<br />
<br />
Best of all, they are SUPER easy...<br />
<br />
Things you will need:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhF6AnPhOWa3aQejaI_07_N7dC6lmfYRktrEJtCvEc4yUwM1T_4HyiBGQFDzyXSkdo56o4ez_jO-jRgNtL3jZ1zdoj9zDtvhSNTs67sKR2HyqZJKppUFtKnmdZir2lB8TSE7hNvEwDxEkc/s1600/P1010084.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhF6AnPhOWa3aQejaI_07_N7dC6lmfYRktrEJtCvEc4yUwM1T_4HyiBGQFDzyXSkdo56o4ez_jO-jRgNtL3jZ1zdoj9zDtvhSNTs67sKR2HyqZJKppUFtKnmdZir2lB8TSE7hNvEwDxEkc/s320/P1010084.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<ul>
<li>Packet of Ready to roll icing</li>
<li>Rich tea biscuits <i>(Digestives and Ginger Snaps, or other Mum's favourites work just as well, as long as there isn't a hole in the middle)</i></li>
<li>Marshmallows</li>
<li>Jam, or some other suitable edible glue type stuff (e.g. Nutella/butter cream)</li>
<li>Things to decorate, I used writing icing pens and things from my cupboard, sugar flowers and things like that work really well, or what about favourite sweets like dolly mixtures</li>
</ul>
<br />
How to make them:<br />
<br />
1. Roll out your ready roll icing until its nice and even (don't go too thin though, else it will tear, especially if little hands are making them) cut out a circles that are a bit bigger than your biscuits...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjx6CyXtouMeOg74ciLba-mTO5iWN0gxJad9LiZn82oyOpQsTDMBJtz4zWu8lIlxHGU5q-Bai3omhXUMrSfAaz1Ecp-VUBiEAjfUbDsFUNZ0GWEcUAGsu60KFMnHRcLf5Y4iN7wJlmXjys/s1600/P1010085.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjx6CyXtouMeOg74ciLba-mTO5iWN0gxJad9LiZn82oyOpQsTDMBJtz4zWu8lIlxHGU5q-Bai3omhXUMrSfAaz1Ecp-VUBiEAjfUbDsFUNZ0GWEcUAGsu60KFMnHRcLf5Y4iN7wJlmXjys/s320/P1010085.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
2. Spread your jam over the biscuit top and place your marshmallow in the centre...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9SfYlYqCd9T3hMhyphenhyphen6f_IBukpVv7-eUnG0cSbRSmTVo1Q5RHfVvfhgYe_3KG9Nsd7ROIXNWefgLSx48y9-Zshx1YPsBJFcrUd2XcJbbAbyTWIMCdie81pzEcAWu-EbgUOzq4kWjUvPy90/s1600/P1010086.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9SfYlYqCd9T3hMhyphenhyphen6f_IBukpVv7-eUnG0cSbRSmTVo1Q5RHfVvfhgYe_3KG9Nsd7ROIXNWefgLSx48y9-Zshx1YPsBJFcrUd2XcJbbAbyTWIMCdie81pzEcAWu-EbgUOzq4kWjUvPy90/s320/P1010086.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
3. Place the icing over the biscuit and press down firmly until the shape of a hat has been made, take care not to tear it here, you can then trim any excess icing from around the edges...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0lTrxjasavSPzZ4HycaX0_XeDZtbnbVrOIwgQ69ZFnLS1tni_lsDFPF9z3oMAInCuIAE_UdyFGCxeDX2XZsNJZDKzAd8_NdPAaODEfWxsAieBP1cHN9xF4V6mKv_fwF7zVRWzy0LufuI/s1600/P1010087.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0lTrxjasavSPzZ4HycaX0_XeDZtbnbVrOIwgQ69ZFnLS1tni_lsDFPF9z3oMAInCuIAE_UdyFGCxeDX2XZsNJZDKzAd8_NdPAaODEfWxsAieBP1cHN9xF4V6mKv_fwF7zVRWzy0LufuI/s320/P1010087.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
4. Using the icing pens, decorate accordingly... (I would like to say I have decorated them to make it look like little hands had made them, but realistically I'm just not that good with icing pens, too gooey!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6xvKTZfTzz3J9h8VZ_f0kh2HmURdkWfQA4nHpC0w8pW78KQ8ih375elSehYxJfcK3GneMFoWIpr2FoRsgKlzLfqP7mB7jr4EwoeYUMZSrMJ7CVe52aT0kifvYU10ip-wFWbs7j9I3nK4/s1600/P1010089.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6xvKTZfTzz3J9h8VZ_f0kh2HmURdkWfQA4nHpC0w8pW78KQ8ih375elSehYxJfcK3GneMFoWIpr2FoRsgKlzLfqP7mB7jr4EwoeYUMZSrMJ7CVe52aT0kifvYU10ip-wFWbs7j9I3nK4/s320/P1010089.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
5. Give them away... <i>(Maybe make one or two yourself whilst you're at it!)</i><br />
<i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></i><br />
<i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-large;">Hope you enjoy!</span></i><br />
<i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></i><br />
I would love to know if you'll be having a go at these, please leave a comment...<br />

Well, I received a rather lovely tweet on Thursday from Hannah @Made_By_Hannah, of <a href="http://handmadebyhannahblog.blogspot.com/2012/03/liebster-award.html">handmadebyhannahblog.blogspot.com</a>, a generally crafty individual, who also likes taking a needle to fabric, telling me that she had awarded me the Liebster blog award...</div>
<div>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
...what on Earth is that you may well ask, I know I did... </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It is awarded to blogs with less than 200 followers, by those who have just been nominated, I suppose it works a little like a chain letter, 'a chain blog' if you will, but what a fantastic way to help support fellow bloggers raise their profile, so it is now my given duty to pass this on... </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The blogs I have nominated after a good deal of thought are... </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1. <a href="http://lynseygray.blogspot.com/">http://lynseygray.blogspot.com/</a> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
A very talented knitter, scribbler, creator type... her blog has been quiet for a while, but is full of fabulous ideas and shows off her wonderful talents. (also, shh... but I know she is currently developing a whole new blog and I have no doubt she will direct you there through this blog) </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2.<a href="http://modelmakeandmend.blogspot.com/2012/02/sweety-geeky-valentines-day.html?showComment=1331400780477#c1716162457616118784">http://modelmakeandmend.blogspot.com/</a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
A crafter who seems to live in lots of cool places and has the BEST ideas... </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
quite frankly I'm a little jealous!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
3. <a href="http://samanthaeynon.blogspot.com/2012/03/couldnt-resist.html">http://samanthaeynon.blogspot.com</a>/</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Another illustrative type from the Midlands like me, she has a great blog, full of cute drawings and things that make me very jealous, as well as lots of very cool paper toys!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
4. <a href="http://meanyjar.blogspot.com/">http://meanyjar.blogspot.com/</a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Yes I am jealous of the banner on this blog... I want it... I am also loving the cool ideas for crochet on here, it also helps as my new years resolution is to learn to crochet... lets see if I manage it! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I am still amazed by the fact she has less than 200 followers! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
5. <a href="http://amylewinphotography.wordpress.com/">http://amylewinphotography.wordpress.com/</a> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Not a crafty type this time, although a textiles teacher like me, I was fortunate enough to stumble across Amy who is going to be our wedding photographer come June this year, I love her work, and whilst I have no idea how many followers she has, it's a fairly recent blog so I'm going to hope I can do this. She takes lovely photos, and yes there are some on there of me and my other half... I'm not sure I should have admitted that one!! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Until next time folks, have fun exploring these lovely folks blogs! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>charliesewsstuffhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01012314584211082142noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2421269204772250108.post-80088189345470471612012-03-04T16:23:00.004+00:002012-03-04T16:23:45.460+00:00Felt Birthday gifts...Happy Birthday to me.....<br />
<br />
Ok, so 1. My birthday was weeks ago... and 2. I'm not quite so self obsessed I would actually write myself a birthday blog. However I did throw myself a little party and as a result got some pretty cool presents...<br />
<br />
As I am (even more rapidly it seems) approaching 30, it seems perfectly acceptable to continue partying like its 1989, when I would have been... oh 5. So in true 5 year old spirit we play silly party games including pass the parcel and pin the tail on the donkey, only we also include alcohol. It's always a lot of fun!<br />
<br />
So imagine my delight when my friend Charlotte, who is a regular at my sewing sessions, and at my parties, who also featured on my <a href="http://charliesewsstuff.blogspot.com/2012/02/with-little-help-from-my-friends.html">last post with her cat nip fishing rod</a>, presented me with this....<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhIyNFzMmg5g051dIpBfNAUWfbatrstsxVB-xBE9TYUK6GtjLtbfjq1A8g8cx98iEZPaVxlLYf-A6aeRKZqX3P2mdJvSm_0-mpUoGACFyZAwiKmkYkuq-_CfhSRTwNnPRNQPz9TpjDfgk/s1600/P1010087.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhIyNFzMmg5g051dIpBfNAUWfbatrstsxVB-xBE9TYUK6GtjLtbfjq1A8g8cx98iEZPaVxlLYf-A6aeRKZqX3P2mdJvSm_0-mpUoGACFyZAwiKmkYkuq-_CfhSRTwNnPRNQPz9TpjDfgk/s400/P1010087.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
It really is pin the tail on the donkey in felt! What an absolutely amazing idea, I'm not sure I would want to trust actual 5 year olds with said pins, but it was an inspired choice of present, needless to say I loved it! I also love the fact she supplied me with multicoloured pins so that we could each have our own colour... She thought it all out brilliantly!<br />
<br />
As over the moon as I was with that, imagine my delight as I continued to rifle through my bag of goodies to discover a <a href="http://charliesewsstuff.blogspot.com/2012/01/how-to-make-birthday-badge-for-special.html">felt badge</a>, made following my first (and as yet only, I will try to fix this soon though!) tutorial on here, fittingly in the shape of a bird, because, well I like them, quite a lot!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEide9bX9_fmHVFS9alfptl9N4hNq58IQhOcJiUgdoAmCgPzn2VuzaDacNFaiyPPW0p_aUMjZnVnWOj8BWhOdcFjqZmm11O8jbpD_xRK4qG-m5HxklFKutB17PsZ_QNMvCPSmdhaeg2Lv7g/s1600/P1010085.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEide9bX9_fmHVFS9alfptl9N4hNq58IQhOcJiUgdoAmCgPzn2VuzaDacNFaiyPPW0p_aUMjZnVnWOj8BWhOdcFjqZmm11O8jbpD_xRK4qG-m5HxklFKutB17PsZ_QNMvCPSmdhaeg2Lv7g/s320/P1010085.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>

<b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #351c75; font-size: large;">Fabulous presents Charlotte, Thank You! </span></b><br />

<br />
Although being so busy of late I have struggled to stay up to date, so it is time to call on my friends!<br />
<br />
The best thing so far for me has definitely got to be the little sewing club I seem to have developed, having hosted my second sewing session on Thursday last week, it continued to be as much fun, and it was nice to be joined by two new members with more interested, but that's for a whole other post...<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAQaFcONwHViu6BiFwqQZFRiQslD4dxtwvnymjRixSexTZqu0TFfJiulWgA2toMXmo0oOS_8ITEPhQz0FTq2iKssA7bgpFsCbe-W0pklcwxjx1osjqxKK9kblOxgnx1V_1-9VWuJ-zBpw/s1600/428086_923838818054_61308963_43110122_1139351277_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="238" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAQaFcONwHViu6BiFwqQZFRiQslD4dxtwvnymjRixSexTZqu0TFfJiulWgA2toMXmo0oOS_8ITEPhQz0FTq2iKssA7bgpFsCbe-W0pklcwxjx1osjqxKK9kblOxgnx1V_1-9VWuJ-zBpw/s400/428086_923838818054_61308963_43110122_1139351277_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Two friends who have been especially supportive of my efforts are Amy and Charlotte, and had it not been at Charlotte's suggestion, I don't think these sessions would have happened!<br />
<br />
Needless to say, these two are hooked on sewing, and I am so glad that I have been able to pass my love on to them, I thought it would be nice to share some of their work with you...<br />
<br />
<i>(some ideas may have been borrowed form the internet, I do apologise for any credit not given) </i><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
So, Amy has a gorgeous little girl and fortunately has lots of ideas to make for her... </div>

During this post I had to go back to <a href="http://charliesewsstuff.blogspot.com/2011/11/having-sew-much-fun.html">where it first began</a>, the first sewing session at the end of last year and the fab decorations they made... and Amy's own new design of a little stocking, which after posting on my groups wall I had requests to copy! I do really need to employ that girl!</div>

Actually probably only about 5 years... I decided to make her a card!<br />
<br />
Embracing my new found love of embroidery, I saw it as a great opportunity to practise, I would like to think I am getting quite good at it!<br />
<br />
I didn't plan for this design at all, just kid of went with the flow, but I am pleased with how it turned out, now I need to concentrate on getting a tidier back...<br />
<br />
Whilst it did look fab in the hoop, it had to go on a card, so I mounted it on a piece of card before attaching it to a small square card.<br />
<br />
I'm very happy with the final result, what do you think?<br />
<br />

But I do have more school shaped stuff...<br />

<br />
When teaching Smart Fabrics to my students, I always like to start with this little video from 1930's, I used this for my interview at my new school. I ask them how realistic it is and their answers always surprise me... The 'swish' always goes down well though!<br />
<br />
This has got to be one of my favourite lessons and it always makes me smile so I thought I would share it with you...charliesewsstuffhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01012314584211082142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2421269204772250108.post-66245655545726304402012-01-15T10:51:00.003+00:002012-01-15T10:51:45.026+00:00Bunting for Fairtrade...A quick blog post for today, more school like things...<br />
<br />
I decided I would do a brief extension project with one of my year 8 classes before they moved onto their next technology subject. I love teaching fair trade issues within school, especially knowing how much it can help others.<br />
<br />
Last year as a school, we took part in The Fairtrade Foundation's attempt at creating the worlds longest piece of fairtrade bunting...<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.fairtrade.org.uk/get_involved/campaigns/campaigns/the_great_cotton_stitchup/bunting_for_justice.aspx">The Fairtrade Foundation's Bunting World Record</a><br />
<br />
...It always feels great to be a part of something like this, and I know the kids feel the same way.<br />
<br />
Inevitably however I ended up with a few left over bunting triangles, only one thing for it, get out the fabric paints, do a bit of research and teaching and create our own fairtrade bunting, which is now proudly displayed in the school library!<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Create paper templates to draw around, I tend to draw my own, but if you aren't a confident drawer you could always print the numbers from a word processing programme or the internet, the same goes for the flower shape, although yours doesn't necessarily have to be a flower. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You will need to cut 2 of the back piece. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHY8q-aJWsZwIKNoKiGe0b4Enfo8J57so_nGtJCXd3AtAeVgmtq3NBLdGdiJvsrJwr-XUgviKXBVfo7S_3oXPdfVJENMMuOQ-zrLSks8qlQlsiywpkUoZcIR6HEGM7riAqOEAhHFGeQFg/s1600/DSCF2408.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="245" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHY8q-aJWsZwIKNoKiGe0b4Enfo8J57so_nGtJCXd3AtAeVgmtq3NBLdGdiJvsrJwr-XUgviKXBVfo7S_3oXPdfVJENMMuOQ-zrLSks8qlQlsiywpkUoZcIR6HEGM7riAqOEAhHFGeQFg/s320/DSCF2408.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1. Once you have cut all of your shapes out, you can start stitching, using a standard thread (<i>or embroidery if you prefer</i>) attach you number to the first circle of felt with a light whip stitch, (going from side to side) trying to keep all stitches the same size.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMHwe1bwmE0qd2Ms_6rT405b5BEMMutHeHyz1qo_W6LzPNJ5YwzOvmEc8weyJ6M6Z2I7MHdvDo5Tz7Qvr-fHhVuAsMVadT9LyZZIwPGSaLRvOZ10g4sDMs0Ml8lhqsqVfqVq9X6FPRnOY/s1600/DSCF2409.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="290" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMHwe1bwmE0qd2Ms_6rT405b5BEMMutHeHyz1qo_W6LzPNJ5YwzOvmEc8weyJ6M6Z2I7MHdvDo5Tz7Qvr-fHhVuAsMVadT9LyZZIwPGSaLRvOZ10g4sDMs0Ml8lhqsqVfqVq9X6FPRnOY/s320/DSCF2409.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
2. Repeat stage 1, attaching your circle of felt to the back panel, again using the same stitch. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBXS1eaNqDGCPPh-8FxPnJxYQTzBUQBkBx1vBMp4oKi09MBKxjKWJsrLOWZhOjyL77C8Uph_X2piLDaldPWFnSL5S2W9PoZlN51XeM_gBkrgRP1iGPlzX1xLK1k38xk5HTI5wR68cVC04/s1600/DSCF2410.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="290" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBXS1eaNqDGCPPh-8FxPnJxYQTzBUQBkBx1vBMp4oKi09MBKxjKWJsrLOWZhOjyL77C8Uph_X2piLDaldPWFnSL5S2W9PoZlN51XeM_gBkrgRP1iGPlzX1xLK1k38xk5HTI5wR68cVC04/s320/DSCF2410.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
3. On the untouched panel that will be at the back of the brooch, stitch your brooch clasp on securely. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYqe8Or1o9TNSG1_f8-uP0Mv5CkoXrvCcLvJHcjmJQJqktMeHigi495E3ckW6Ir3uVbHWH2YpqMBYi41ySGc8dscz_dHlgSSgOrDA5Drm9TO7zVK0KuuZ_nZmO8txoA8ONppZG-pHXSok/s1600/DSCF2414.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="257" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYqe8Or1o9TNSG1_f8-uP0Mv5CkoXrvCcLvJHcjmJQJqktMeHigi495E3ckW6Ir3uVbHWH2YpqMBYi41ySGc8dscz_dHlgSSgOrDA5Drm9TO7zVK0KuuZ_nZmO8txoA8ONppZG-pHXSok/s320/DSCF2414.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
4. You are now ready to sew your 2 panels together. Making sure the number and the clasp are both facing outwards, use a blanket stitch to fasten both pieces together. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiC6CaUwqHA75SZokwggh8xcDP47cigtTeBWj-PAgyv9nPAAuLE7_fDUAK61vbj92zS13S5VTCuP2sTEYdUwhQIpRTIa-aZZkfPcOoR_BAkLQYYzJKg34KipyrZp2CEQZVKrhwciOSG1cQ/s1600/DSCF2419.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="243" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiC6CaUwqHA75SZokwggh8xcDP47cigtTeBWj-PAgyv9nPAAuLE7_fDUAK61vbj92zS13S5VTCuP2sTEYdUwhQIpRTIa-aZZkfPcOoR_BAkLQYYzJKg34KipyrZp2CEQZVKrhwciOSG1cQ/s320/DSCF2419.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
5. Before you finish sewing all the way around, leave a space to insert a small amount of stuffing into the badge, not too much though, just enough to give it a little character!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-h70dCAQktqDw05AvvaTo5B7T8f-A_t8RVeIVuhcYJNFxLojmZtZ6A__YISqqPoFeYBQWXoIsHFbcKdkpvTJUDDyXjBX94zm8RZUZASHb9SE28Qe7z2eUhE_7OL7gfrwy2wuVOYR1bFo/s1600/DSCF2433.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="309" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-h70dCAQktqDw05AvvaTo5B7T8f-A_t8RVeIVuhcYJNFxLojmZtZ6A__YISqqPoFeYBQWXoIsHFbcKdkpvTJUDDyXjBX94zm8RZUZASHb9SE28Qe7z2eUhE_7OL7gfrwy2wuVOYR1bFo/s320/DSCF2433.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
'the end'</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now you are ready to give your little person a badge to wear on their special day! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Have fun making this one folks, I know I did! :D</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Also tights are expensive so it makes sense to save a few pennies, and making and mending does seem to be the fashion of late...<br />
<br />
So imagine my excitement when I opened up these on Christmas day, at first I thought they were plasters with like shoes and t-shirts on, then I thought maybe they were plasters shaped like particular items of clothing, having been the recipient of plasters of a similar ilk previously. But no, they are in fact, plasters for clothes, what an awesome idea?!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
Even better, they are bird themed, very cool, now the real question is, to use them as plasters for my clothes, or to use them as decoration???<br />

<br />
Good things however, getting those mock papers marked, watching lots of films you're never able to make time for and doing a little crafting...<br />
<br />
Whilst at the Clothes Show this year I got the chance to re-aquaint myself with cross stitch at the Mollie Makes stand, where I made this cute little button badge, something I used to really enjoy but haven't had chance to do since I was about 11...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggFYrMfv5LzirwONwFw6rI5mDrSe2v7KZWuF1FG3nuN4EyU6B8paoNcGPh_xcYVwJks4nq9tXv_sVmV3se6Wo2KcUvn2flP-viOPC08TTMkhk_JJt1h0L2xGR1AR7X_OotSiWROhmTvvk/s1600/buttonbadge.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggFYrMfv5LzirwONwFw6rI5mDrSe2v7KZWuF1FG3nuN4EyU6B8paoNcGPh_xcYVwJks4nq9tXv_sVmV3se6Wo2KcUvn2flP-viOPC08TTMkhk_JJt1h0L2xGR1AR7X_OotSiWROhmTvvk/s320/buttonbadge.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I bought the issue of Mollie Makes from the stand... well, it's Mollie Makes isn't it, has to be done, but also it had a cute little cross-stitch project that came with it for FREE!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLCCc4x2lbz5SoCLLVT_OIKMhVrX2kPvtcIQsxBI4JkWwFzhxJS5vltBu6qdzhtPCG5ojB7GOyZzuKpIO0dFazE_g43FVay3R7dFLVgTKRAYHUkLkFX8pfjeye-vmq8a9pGcfw8M2gk00/s1600/DSCF2388.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="208" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLCCc4x2lbz5SoCLLVT_OIKMhVrX2kPvtcIQsxBI4JkWwFzhxJS5vltBu6qdzhtPCG5ojB7GOyZzuKpIO0dFazE_g43FVay3R7dFLVgTKRAYHUkLkFX8pfjeye-vmq8a9pGcfw8M2gk00/s320/DSCF2388.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My little Royal Guard, affectionately known as 'little man'</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I was planning on photographing the progress thoughout, but in my flu induced state I forgot, so here he is all finished, and I FINALLY mastered the french knot at last - HURRAH!<br />
<i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small;">(It has only taken me 11 years and actually now I am ashamed as its really quite easy, thank you you tube!)</span></i><br />
<i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></i><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVu0-tt9sYXG5iAmZbVfc7-XmroDWm0JpwWTcL7cqnMp_SlTD8B9zS-W6O6ZSctAGqqqOtORK5JDQjynSjNba0565dJt0AVdfngc9a97f_5Fs6H_29qmtv27h1xRSvZsN8AQc-8-lN8ec/s1600/DSCF2399.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVu0-tt9sYXG5iAmZbVfc7-XmroDWm0JpwWTcL7cqnMp_SlTD8B9zS-W6O6ZSctAGqqqOtORK5JDQjynSjNba0565dJt0AVdfngc9a97f_5Fs6H_29qmtv27h1xRSvZsN8AQc-8-lN8ec/s320/DSCF2399.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
So once he was finished, all there was left to do was stick him in the cute felt frame that was supplied! I think he will live in my classroom as of Monday!<br />
<br />
However as my next project I think I might get a large sheet of aida and cross stitch a few in really funky colours to go somewhere in the house, yet another project for what seems to be a never ending list!<br />
<br />
Also, I'm sure you've guessed by now as a result of the photos, I'm on Instagram, so please, if you find me, follow me!<br />

(who I hope don't mind me stealing their photos to use on the blog)<br />
<br />
Anyway, in the spirit of Christmas I thought I would pop a couple of their adventures on my blog, although, I must say I am enjoying following their continued adventures via facebook!<br />

....Mistletoe & Wine.... "<br />
<br />
(No I am not a Cliff Richard fan, but whenever I think of Christmas I do end up with a classic Christmas tune in my head) The most popular choices this year have been 'Walking in a Winter Wonderland', and 'Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow', I wonder if this is what prompted my other half to choose this very sweet card for me this year...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UDiJVxCXIeY/TvMfHR8We3I/AAAAAAAAAD0/ZsxZ_YvO6mc/s1600/DSCF2376.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UDiJVxCXIeY/TvMfHR8We3I/AAAAAAAAAD0/ZsxZ_YvO6mc/s320/DSCF2376.JPG" width="261" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Slightly more civilised than my choice I'm sure...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TiZ5vWfgBVM/TvMfNELre0I/AAAAAAAAAD8/_aLCmFxHr-8/s1600/DSCF2377.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TiZ5vWfgBVM/TvMfNELre0I/AAAAAAAAAD8/_aLCmFxHr-8/s320/DSCF2377.JPG" width="271" /></a></div>
<br />
So it's not a sewing blog today, but a Christmas Decoration one instead, as I've been so busy completing orders, and there is a limit to how many personalised cushions a girls can show you, these two below are two of my favourites, I am possibly swayed however by the names slightly, Grace is a name I have shortlisted should I ever be fortunate enough to have a little girl.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oqXJsFJm1sU/TvMfqIFgDQI/AAAAAAAAAEI/TyUNyDUxA1k/s1600/DSCF2360.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oqXJsFJm1sU/TvMfqIFgDQI/AAAAAAAAAEI/TyUNyDUxA1k/s320/DSCF2360.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I haven't got too excited with my decorations this year as we have decided to travel about and not use our house as the central hub for social events, we needed a year off! So we just have our tree, a few bits and our cards, it's making me feel festive enough, especially at one point I was certain this the entire celebration would pass me by... The Christmas Carol Concert at school soon put paid to that!<br />
<br />
Every year I get super excited by our Christmas Tree, mainly because I forget what I have sale hunted the year before, but also because my Christmas tree is so fabulously kitsch! <i>(One my friends who if she is reading this, I know will be cringing right now as she HATES that word, but there really is no other choice!) </i><br />
<br />
This is my absolute favourite decoration, it was from my parents first tree, and anyone who knows me will know that I have a little bird obsession, to the point where my friends call my house an aviary! Each year it gets pride of place near the top of tree...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5KpL_r4ZcDw/TvMgapvdomI/AAAAAAAAAEU/WXWTS2SkME8/s1600/PC230014.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5KpL_r4ZcDw/TvMgapvdomI/AAAAAAAAAEU/WXWTS2SkME8/s320/PC230014.JPG" width="164" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I have a slight obsession with all things retro, hence the white tree, but also the reason for these what can only be described as fabulous glass decorations...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VlWbc6eR8Q0/TvMhJ_pswlI/AAAAAAAAAEg/9QeFxQtqqwk/s1600/DSCF2381.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VlWbc6eR8Q0/TvMhJ_pswlI/AAAAAAAAAEg/9QeFxQtqqwk/s200/DSCF2381.JPG" width="110" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3YIUI5yJEuA/TvMhP5eoa7I/AAAAAAAAAEo/QtP4B9rtyQQ/s1600/DSCF2382.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3YIUI5yJEuA/TvMhP5eoa7I/AAAAAAAAAEo/QtP4B9rtyQQ/s200/DSCF2382.JPG" width="161" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
This is the latest decoration, it came back from New York for me this year with my brother, I have worn converse since I was about 15, so obviously this was deemed appropriate for me, I do think my brother and his girlfriend thought I wouldn't put it on the tree, but there it is, right slap bang in the middle, the glitter catches the fairy light twinkle beautifully :D<br />
<br />
<i>(I did tell her to look out for it in my blog as proof it would be there!)</i><br />
<i><br /></i><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-d9B-NzFPG8I/TvMhkEpTwyI/AAAAAAAAAE0/9IglE2Il2ms/s1600/DSCF2386.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-d9B-NzFPG8I/TvMhkEpTwyI/AAAAAAAAAE0/9IglE2Il2ms/s320/DSCF2386.JPG" width="319" /></a></div>
<br />
Any crafter has got to be feeling some love for Cath Kidston, and my tree does pay homage to the woman, who lets face it, along with Kirsty Allsopp, played a huge part in making crafts cool again. How could I not?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-lH19k3P17dI/TvMh0jOr2KI/AAAAAAAAAFA/OeAb2JuqNt0/s1600/DSCF2383.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-lH19k3P17dI/TvMh0jOr2KI/AAAAAAAAAFA/OeAb2JuqNt0/s200/DSCF2383.JPG" width="156" /></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rajCLh8yWsA/TvMh6_4uG8I/AAAAAAAAAFI/eMYLF8fRA1E/s1600/DSCF2385.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="197" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rajCLh8yWsA/TvMh6_4uG8I/AAAAAAAAAFI/eMYLF8fRA1E/s200/DSCF2385.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
The icing on any persons tree, has to be whatever they choose to adorn the top, I have a beautiful fairy, again taken from my parents first tree, I love her...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sOKfKsBn6_k/TvMihHN6RJI/AAAAAAAAAFU/LHt6j8gSfLo/s1600/PC230008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sOKfKsBn6_k/TvMihHN6RJI/AAAAAAAAAFU/LHt6j8gSfLo/s400/PC230008.JPG" width="276" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
My latest obsession however has to be all things Scandi, if I win the lottery, Sweden would be my choice of residence for a while, I just loved it so much there! We visited Stockholm in October last year, and I just love the little trolls they sell there, we recently had this little lady hand delivered from Sweden, I have named her 'Tack', to go with my little boy trolls 'Ej' and 'Nej'.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-g_O9OHK6cTo/TvMi6X9y_OI/AAAAAAAAAFg/W-27fZZHx2w/s1600/DSCF2373.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="229" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-g_O9OHK6cTo/TvMi6X9y_OI/AAAAAAAAAFg/W-27fZZHx2w/s320/DSCF2373.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm going to leave you with this Christmas card, it was made a few years ago by one of my super talented friends, her illustrations are just quite frankly AWESOME!<br />
<i>(You can see what else she does here <a href="http://lynseygray.blogspot.com/">http://lynseygray.blogspot.com/</a>)</i><br />
<i><br /></i><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mMVexR2SUJo/TvMjCIjTSRI/AAAAAAAAAFo/LvX50aR-tZA/s1600/DSCF2380.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mMVexR2SUJo/TvMjCIjTSRI/AAAAAAAAAFo/LvX50aR-tZA/s320/DSCF2380.JPG" width="216" /></a></div>
<i><br /></i><br />
<i><br /></i><br />
<i><br /></i><br />
<i>FINALLY I WOULD JUST LIKE TO TAKE THIS CHANCE TO SAY.... </i><br />
<i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cc0000; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></i><br />
<i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cc0000; font-size: x-large;">HAVE A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS Y'ALL!!!</span></i>charliesewsstuffhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01012314584211082142noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2421269204772250108.post-2140969500170711212011-12-05T20:59:00.001+00:002011-12-05T21:24:59.170+00:00Feeling 5 again...Ok, so todays post is going to be super quick, and not at all sewing related, but I've had a busy weekend making my house into a winter wonderland, I'll post some pictures soon. But after spending Sunday entertaining my gorgeous niece and nephew by playing with 'bricks' and stumbling across this super cool lego related blog post, I had to share my wonderful creations.... I did get a little obsessed with them... a few hours of my life gone!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.retronaut.co/2011/12/lego-catalogue-1973/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+HowToBeARetronaut+%28How+to+be+a+Retronaut%29">http://www.retronaut.co/2011/12/lego-catalogue-1973/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+HowToBeARetronaut+%28How+to+be+a+Retronaut%29</a><br />
<br />
I was quite limited on brick colour and sizes, thus thwarting my creativity somewhat, but I think I did a pretty good job with what I had, well, lets be honest here, if I didn't I wouldn't be sharing them with the whole online world!<br />
<br />

<i>Apologies for the poor photo quality, I was at my mums and all we had was a phone!</i></div>charliesewsstuffhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01012314584211082142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2421269204772250108.post-69757326131482778202011-12-02T18:45:00.001+00:002011-12-02T22:09:13.408+00:00Kids sew stuff...I am so snowed under at the moment, I am loving that! But I couldn't justify another blog post about a cushion so soon... well, not one that I had made anyway. I thought it would be nice to share the cushions that some of my students made for their 'pre-loved cushion' project. Now this is the students first time on a sewing machine, so it's a little wibbly wobbly at times, and the tension on some of my machines is skewy which doesn't help the overall appearance but I think they have done a great job overall.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-a8VN8kd0H_Kn-kLT3BeZtGToH8Jx9RyCseE0RXBRmA234b7H0PILJ4wHamDa7l_b9L0hT1L6GgNBoX29_KGzz1spRkqkuRyUz_YlHv493nZoblWeuSD1QuYaupkLgFEi3SKg_pd6ZL0/s1600/P1010067.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-a8VN8kd0H_Kn-kLT3BeZtGToH8Jx9RyCseE0RXBRmA234b7H0PILJ4wHamDa7l_b9L0hT1L6GgNBoX29_KGzz1spRkqkuRyUz_YlHv493nZoblWeuSD1QuYaupkLgFEi3SKg_pd6ZL0/s320/P1010067.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>

I really enjoy teaching this project, its a good chance to teach the kids how to use the machine correctly, understand how patterns work, and develop their skills. It's also great for teaching sustainability which is becoming a massive part of the subject now. Most importantly though, the kids love it and have produced some pretty impressive results!<br />
